What can you do if you suspect you have a problem? Have the house tested by a certified mold technician. We recommend a minimum of two samples. These samples are sent directly to a lab for identification. Samples are analyzed to determine the species then cultured to determine if the spores collected are viable (living) or Non-viable. (not a threat) Samples are usually taken directly from the source, from walls in the general area, inside of the heating ducts, and one outside of the affected area to provide a “control count” If you have a valid Mold concern it is important that you have a IICRC certified Mold Abatement company review your situation and prepare a treatment plan. Most of the time this remediation effort is effective and your problem is resolved however some times the infestation is wider spread then was anticipated and a more aggressive abatement effort is required.
